Torsten Kuenzlen of Sundial Growers begins by discussing how welcoming Alberta, Canada has been toward the cannabis industry, allowing the province to truly be one of the country’s industry leaders. Kuenzelen shares with us Sundial’s intentions regarding the future of global operations: “As soon as we have the ability to export and then import into the other countries, the world’s our oyster.” He believes that there will be many developments with all the hundreds of lesser known cannabinoids in the near future but is most especially excited about the breadth of CBD opportunities coming our way. Kuenzelen also discusses hemp, fuel, and the urgency of sustainability.

Seth Adler:
Okay, we've got Torsten Kuenzlen from Sundial Growers. Torsten, thank you so much for giving us some time.
Torsten Kuenzlen:
Happy to be here.
Seth Adler:
We have not really even spoken just yet. So this is our maiden voyage. Usually, I know folks a little bit better on the way in, but it'll be fun for both of us doing it this way. Right?
Torsten Kuenzlen:
Absolutely.
Seth Adler:
Yeah. So, Sundial Growers out of Alberta, yeah?
Torsten Kuenzlen:
Indeed.
Seth Adler:
Okay. Just give us a little bit of a sense of the organization as it sits right now.
Torsten Kuenzlen:
Yes, for sure. So look, Sundial has existed for a couple of years, but really in its current form, we started it last year when I joined as CEO in January. We're one of the largest licensed producers up here in Canada. We follow very much a branded premium approach and we are now, if you look at the results in terms of recreational cannabis sales in the top three or five here in Canada.
Seth Adler:
Fantastic. And the province, I mentioned it off the top because it has become the province of distinction in legal cannabis because Ontario has the big city and all that comes with that market. British Columbia, maybe has roots and history, but not necessarily in legal cannabis. And so somehow, some way Alberta has made its way forward in being nice and organized and being nice and ready to go here in this legal cannabis landscape. Do I have that right from an outsider's perspective?
